Dictionaries for All

On Tuesday, November 10th, Niagara Charter School received a very special visit from members of the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls. Club President Bill Bradberry, Club President-Elect Carmen Hamilton, Past-President Louise Lascelle, and Board Member Morton Abramowitz were at the school to pass out dictionaries to all of the school's third-graders. As part of their rotary club literacy initiative, the Niagara Falls Rotary donated a personalized dictionary to each third-grade student for them to keep during their educational career.

Club President Bradberry noted that, "The Niagara Falls Rotary Club is firmly committed to the core mission of the Niagara Charter School. We will do everything we can to help make the Niagara Charter School and all the schools in our community the BEST they can possibly be. The children ARE our future...literacy matters, and so do the children. We want our children toSTAY IN SCHOOL, graduate from college and have great careers right here in the Niagara Frontier."

Our school is very happy to have organizations like the Niagara Falls Rotary Club supporting our students.

Chinese Auction

On November 4, 2009 the Niagara Charter School will be holding their first Chinese Auction in the school gymnasium. The auction will take place from 5-8pm. The school band will also be playing during this time.  This event is to raise funds for thePlayground/    /Sports/Technology project.

There are two fields on the property that are both 30,000 square feet of unutilized green space. Building a modern, interactive playground and multi-use sports field would greatly benefit the students physically, mentally and socially. The playground/sports field and basketball court will allow the school to offer a more complete educational and physical fitness experience for current and future students. This project will provide health and wellness opportunities to a student population that is nearly 90% minority with approximately 92% of the total student body at, or below, the poverty level. The use of computers and updated software and tools, will allow for our students learning to be enhanced. They will be able to explore various opportunities that they cannot reach due to the lack of technology currently in the school.

The expected cost of the project is $70,000-$90,000 and Niagara Charter School has raised approximately $37,000.00 to date.   Niagara Charter School would greatly appreciate your help in reaching this target goal.  Any donations you can make towards the Chinese Auction (gift certificate, money, tickets, gift card, gift basket, etc.) would help our project become a reality!

If you would like any more information on the project, please contact the school at (716) 297-4520.

Welcome Back

We were so happy to see all of the NCS family back and ready for another great year.

The children have been back for three weeks!  It’s hard to believe that Labor Day is almost here already.

The teachers have been incorporating new techniques they learned over the summer to better prepare the children for the year ahead.

I am so happy to see all and it has been great to meet the new students too!

We would like to welcome our new staff members.  Shauna Smith and Chrisheena Hill have joined our team and have already met and have been working with the Niagara Charter students.
